ALINE is a professional network: it helps you meet people nearby who share your work goals, and it opens a conversation once you've both agreed to connect. These guidelines explain how we expect members to treat each other. They are part of our Terms of Service, and they apply everywhere on ALINE: profiles, photos and videos, intro videos, messages, recaps, groups, events and speed networking.
1 · Who can use ALINE
- You must be 18 or older.
- Use your real name, and your own photos and work history. Keep your profile accurate.
- One person, one account. Don't create an account for someone else, and don't come back under a new account after we've removed you.
2 · Keep it professional
ALINE is not a dating app. Treat every connection the way you'd treat someone you met at a conference or a colleague's introduction.
- No romantic or dating solicitation. Don't use ALINE to ask people out, flirt, or look for dates.
- Respect a no. If someone doesn't connect, doesn't reply, declines to meet, or ends a conversation, don't keep contacting them, and don't try to reach them another way.
- Don't pressure people to move off ALINE. Share your phone number, email or social accounts only when both of you want to. Don't insist on someone else's.
- Meet on your own terms. Suggest public places for first meetings. Nobody owes anyone a meeting, and saying no is always fine.
3 · What we don't allow
- Harassment or bullying: insults, threats, intimidation, or unwanted repeated contact.
- Hate: attacking people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious illness or age.
- Unsafe or threatening conduct: anything that makes someone feel physically unsafe, including following, showing up uninvited, or using where someone has been against them.
- Impersonation and fake profiles: pretending to be someone else, inventing credentials, or misrepresenting who you work for.
- Spam and scams: mass messaging, unsolicited sales pitches, recruiting for pyramid schemes, investment scams, phishing, or asking for money or financial details.
- Sexual or graphic content: nudity, sexual content, or violent or gory images, in your profile, photos, videos or messages.
- Anything involving minors: ALINE is for adults only. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation, and report it to the authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.
- Illegal activity: using ALINE to buy, sell or promote anything illegal, or to plan harm.
- Sharing other people's private information: posting someone's contact details, home address, location, or private messages or recordings without their permission.
- Recording without agreement: only record a recap or any audio or video with someone who has agreed to it.
- Misusing the service: scraping or harvesting profiles, automating accounts, faking your location, or trying to get around a block or a suspension.
4 · Groups, events and speed networking
Organizers set the purpose of their groups and events, and they may remove members or attendees who don't fit it. Organizers must follow these guidelines too. Don't use a group, an event roster or a member list to mass-message people or to collect their information.
5 · Reporting and blocking
If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can block them or report them from their profile or from your chat. Report categories match the rules above: harassment or bullying, pressure to move off-platform, romantic or dating solicitation, impersonation or a fake profile, unsafe or threatening conduct, spam or promotional content, and inappropriate or offensive content.
- Reports are confidential. We never tell the reported person who reported them.
- Blocking someone removes you from each other's feeds in the app and stops them from messaging you.
- You can also email support@aline.network, including if you don't have an account.
- If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first (911 in the US and Canada, 112 in Europe and the UK).
6 · What happens when someone breaks the rules
We review reports and may look at the reported content and related account activity. Depending on what happened, we may remove content, limit features, warn the member, suspend the account, or remove it permanently. Serious violations, such as threats, exploitation or scams, lead to permanent removal and may be reported to law enforcement. We may act without a report when we find a violation ourselves.
If you think we got it wrong, email support@aline.network and we'll take another look.
7 · Changes
We may update these guidelines as ALINE grows. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
